Perth Concert Hall
Perth Concert Hall — WA’s symphonic venue
Perth Concert Hall sits on St Georges Terrace at the heart of the Perth CBD, a five-minute walk from any CBD hotel. The hall opened in 1973 as part of the Perth Cultural Centre redevelopment and has operated continuously as the principal Perth concert venue since. It is the home of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and the regular Perth venue for the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Musica Viva.
The hall is currently slated for a major redevelopment that will see significant changes to the auditorium, the foyers and the public realm — the redevelopment will close the hall for an extended period during construction. The WASO and the visiting touring acts will move to interim Perth venues during the closure period.
The room
1,729 seats across stalls and circle. Acoustically warmer than the original 1973 design intent, after the 1990s acoustic refurbishment that improved the hall’s symphonic performance. Front-half stalls and circle middle are the high-value seats.
Getting there
Walk from any Perth CBD hotel. The State Buildings dining (Wildflower, Hadiqa, Halford) is five minutes’ walk; the King Street precinct is the same distance. Pair with a daytime visit to the Art Gallery of Western Australia or the Perth Cultural Centre at Northbridge.
