What Else Can I Do?

Our job is storytelling. Brian Thomson

Your voice does get heard. Whether you’re an artist yourself, an audience member or a parent of a budding young artist.

1. Contact your local Member of Parliament

You can find your local member on the Australian Electoral Commission website and contact them by email, snail mail, fax or even phone.

To make your voice heard loudly, it is important to make your letter original and personal.

2. Sign other petitions

Signing petitions does make a difference. Look out for campaigns where you can show your support.

3. Get out there!

Queensland Theatre Company: Away

The best way to show your support is to take your friends and see a show. Visit the Performing Arts section of this website and get an idea of what’s on and where - and visit the websites of the performing companies to find out where you can book tickets.

4. Support your local school

Find out how you can support the arts at your local school by joining your local P & C and see how you can help:

  • organise excursions to performing arts events
  • encourage teacher development programs to bring the arts into schools
  • establish ensembles and theatre performances in schools.
